A group of 13 local individuals who have parenting experience have completed the latest Home-Start volunteers course. This is a 10 week programme covering subjects like Child development, Safeguarding children, Listening to families, Understanding parents and their children, Confidentiality, the role of a Home-Start volunteer etc.

The scheme organises 2 volunteer courses per year, in the Spring and Autumn.

The course is held in Nailsworth and runs on one day a week from 10am to 2.30pm. All volunteers are interviewed, undergo a Criminal Record Disclosure check as well as taking up references. After successfully completing the course volunteers receive a certificate. They also have the option to gain Open College Network Accreditation for the course by completing extra assignments.
