Local G.P. Alistair Smith ran in the Royal Parks Half Marathon on October 9th 2011 to raise money for Home - Start Stroud and Dursley. Alistair has lived in Gloucestershire since qualifying from Oxford University Medical School in 1994. He has been a partner at Locking Hill Surgery, Stroud since 1999 and has a long standing interest in sports and exercise medicine. He has written newspaper advice columns for athletes training for a half marathon and is well under way on his own training for this one. Alistair lives locally with his wife and 3 daughters and in the past has run the Stroud half marathon raising money for other local charities.
Alistair stated: "Home-Start supports families at a crucial time in the early years of their children's lives and I am really pleased to be supporting such a valuable local resource". Sponsorship collections totalled £318.00.
